Interviews

Schedule a panel interview without a calendar tug of war

A panel interview needs three or four busy people and a candidate in the same slot. Propose the times you can offer, collect availability from everyone, and lock the one that clears.

How to schedule a panel interview

  1. 1

Propose the slots hiring can support

Offer three to six slots at the interview's real length. Starting from what the panel can genuinely staff avoids the loop where the candidate accepts a time an interviewer then declines.

  2. 2

    Poll the panel first

Send the link to the interviewers and get their availability in one round rather than a sequential email chain. Nobody has to share their calendar or install anything.

  3. 3

Send the shortlist to the candidate

Once you know which slots the panel can staff, share a poll with only those options. The candidate answers without creating an account, which keeps the process light for them.

  4. 4

Lock the slot and export the invite

Lock the winning time and everyone adds it to Google, Outlook or Apple Calendar, with the video link attached so the joining details are in the invite.

Why this works better than a booking link

Ready to put this into a poll?

Tap a few times, share one link, and let the group vote. Most groups have the time settled the same day.

Set up an interview pollFree, and the people you invite never sign up.

Hiring situations this fits

Panel and loop interviews

Several interviewers who must all attend the same session.

Final-stage interviews

Senior stakeholders whose calendars are the constraint, where sequential email costs days.

Remote hiring across time zones

Automatic conversion means the candidate reads the slot correctly the first time.

Volunteer and committee interviews

Organizations without a shared calendar system or a recruiting tool.

Interview scheduling questions

Can the candidate see the interviewers' answers?

Run two polls: one for the panel and a second, narrower one for the candidate containing only the slots that already work. That keeps internal availability internal.

Does the candidate need an account?

No. They open the link, add their name and pick the times that work. Only the organizer signs in.

How is this different from Calendly?

Calendly hands out one person's open slots for a one-to-one booking. Decider is a group vote, which is what a panel interview actually is: several people who must all be free at once.

Can we include the video call link?

Yes. Add your own link or let Decider create one, and it travels into the calendar invite when the slot is locked.

Can I remove the poll afterwards?

Yes. As the organizer you can delete the poll once hiring is finished, which removes the responses with it.
